Normally we Canadians are so afraid of appearing narcissistic that we apologize even for our very existence. Pride in who we are and where we are from was an infectious maple leaf fallout from the Vancouver Games. So did our pride make us arrogant? Pompous? Obnoxious? No. Our newfound confidence spurred a tiny miracle… conversation.

Attending Right to Play symposium at UBC was a humbling reminder of the profound impact sports can have in developing countries. Game play can help grow a community, offer positive mentorship, create gender equality, promote health, build confidence and is a highly effective educational tool.

I have taken up running. And I am confused.
Someone tell me why other runners nod when you go by? Is this a runners secret bat signal? Does it mean we all meet later at the pub for poutine and Bud lime? ‘Cause that’s what I’m hoping. Or is it a weird twitch? I don’t want to suffer all this cardio just to develop a freaky twitch.
